ITK is NHS Digital's Inteoperability Tool Kit which is a series of transport, security and message specifications that specify how separate organisations communicate with each other. ITK3 is the current version of ITK that specifies the use of FHIR and MESH. The Message Exchange for Social Care and Health (MESH) is is a secure asynchronous transport layer operated by NHS Digital.
Together these components are used by the Clinical Document Gateway (branded 7Bridge DDG) to exchange documents between NHS organisations, and for which the Certification has been awarded.
